“Lo de nosotros es una revolucion implementada en musica, una tecnica fresh y inovativa asi como la de los mayorales de latino america. ¡Jazz, tango y salsa con mucho aché!” -Damian Jesus Sanchez. As is stated in words above but expressed in music vividly and sincerely: “Ours is a revolution implemented in music, a fresh and innovative technique like that of the leaders of Latin America; jazz, tango, and salsa with lots of mojo!” What began on the treacherous streets of Little Havana and continues throughout the US today stands as a beacon of one young man’s dream to change the world through his art. Since 1993, Damian J. has continued on his musical path to greatness. The oboe paved the way throughout high school, performing at the prestigious PAVAC arts program in Miami, Florida. This eventually led to gaining a generous departmental grant to continue studies at Arkansas State University and obtaining a Bachelor of Music in Oboe Performance. While studying under Dan Ross at ASU, Sanchez began exploring the flute, the saxophone, and eventually the clarinet; diligently mastering each instrument’s individual facets. In 2004 after completing the BM, he went on to graduate studies at the University of Memphis once again under a graduate assistantship under known arranger/composer, Jack Cooper. While completing his Master of Music he integrated himself into the Memphis music scene collaborating with such bands as Freeworld and Orquesta Symbiosis. Since 2006, Damian J. has strived to make his dream a reality and share his art with all those open to listening and evolving thru music. Tours and performances cover the entire US and Puerto Rico and include such acts as the Inner City All Stars, Luis Benetti, United States Air Force Band of the West (as a special guest), Julio Sabala, Frank Chase, Grant Garland, Jenny Lopez, Michael Shanks, as well as advancing his own music and acting in independent film. In 2009, Sanchez signed with the Moreno Entertainment Group and is currently working on material for a debut album. Thank you for visiting!
